      Introduction/Aim: 
       
      The aim of this assignment is for you to develop an in-depth understanding of the technical aspects modelling and simulation to solve a given existing real-world problem by designing a prototype using a simulation platform such as Tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com/).
       
      In this assignment, students will utilise a simulation platform such as Tinkercad to design and develop an Automated plant watering system. The system automates the process of watering plants based on their soil moisture levels using a soil moisture sensor and a water pump. 
       
      Task: 
       
      Your task is to design and simulate an Automated Plant Watering System using Tinkercad. This system should be capable of monitoring soil moisture levels and autonomously watering plants when the soil becomes too dry. Conversely, it should stop watering when the soil is adequately moist.
       
      For this project, you are required to create a system using a minimum of two microcontrollers, such as an Arduino. The system should also include at least one soil moisture sensor integrated with the first microcontroller and at least one output device, such as a serial monitor, LCD, LED, or MQTT lens, integrated with the second microcontroller. To enhance the project's efficiency, you have the option to utilise additional electronic components that are readily available.
       
      Report Requirements 
       
      To complete the assignment successfully your report should include the following components:
       
      i. Physical quantities/information:
       
      Determine the physical quantities/information to be measured or evaluated (the system input), this is for you to select suitable sensors to acquire this information. This section should include the following information: 
      • A short survey of different sensors that could be used. 
      • A comparison of the most suitable sensors 
      • The selection of the most appropriate sensors. 
       
       
      ii. Processing unit(s): 
       
      Determine the most suitable Processing unit that suits your proposed system and its main specifications. This section should include the following points: 
      • A short survey of available processing units. 
      • A comparative summary, in the form of a table. 
      • The selection of suitable processing units, including a suitable justification. 
       
      iii. Communication media (M2M, IoT, … etc): 
       
      Determine the most suitable communication media/channel, techniques and technologies that suit your proposed system and its main specifications. This section should include: 
      • A comparison of major IoT communication protocols such as Bluetooth Low Energy, WIFI, ZigBee, Z-Wave, LoRWAN, NFC, Cellular, MQTT, etc. 
      • A specification of the type of communication channel/s required for the proposed system (Wired or Wireless). Specify the benefits related to the proposed solution.
      • Compare and contrast available communication media/channels: LAN, WAN, BLUETOOTH 
      • Specify and justify which version of IP protocol such as IPv4, or IPv6 is most suitable for the proposed solution. 
       
       
       
      iv. Power source(s): 
       
      Determine the most suitable power source/s to be used to power the proposed system, including the subsystems.
      v. Risk assessment(s):
       
      Determine the security issues and risk factors that can be considered for your project to avoid any unnecessary interruptions.

      Submission Format
      You should be writing an individual technical report of around 2000 words 10%. 
       
      Submission 
      Your Individual report should be submitted individually via the Blackboard, before the end of the day on the deadline date. 
      You are expected to submit the following elements for the report:
      • Write a technical report, approximately 2,000 words detailing your research, design, analysis, conclusions, and references.
      • Formatting and layout: use A4 sized page, with one-and-a-half line spacing and Times New Roman or Arial font, size 12.
